Last Few Nights Before France

Sunday morning I leave for France to walk the Camino de Santiago, from Le Puy en Velay France, to Santiago de Compostella, Spain.  I have known about the Camino for quite some time, but it wasn't until I spent a long weekend in March in Death Valley, California when a group of friends and couchsurfers motivated me to realize a dream.  Within the week I joined Weight Watchers (down 75lbs in 20 weeks BTW) and by mid April I had my plane ticket to Paris.

1300 smackers for a flight to Paris HOLY COW.  That is some expensive motivation and It worked!!!!!  In the next 4 months I gathered gear, worked nights so I could walk before my closing shift at the Card room and dieted my behind off.  Did I mention I lost 75lbs in 20 weeks?  Seriously I needed to lose weight and this is a huge goal to help me accomplish this.

So my last week has been amazing and very emotional for me.  I am in awe at how supportive and caring and generous everyone has been.  The inspiration I have been getting from everyone has been awesome, from family, friends, co-workers, and everyone at my weight watchers meetings.

This is a big THANK YOU to everyone that has been a huge part of this week before I leave on my journey.

Tuesday's SF Giants game with Jacie

On Wednesday I made lunch plans with Eden and Cheri whom I worked with at the Card Room.  Really it was hard not to shed some tears this day.  My Mom had given me a crucifix that was given to her by my grandma.  So two weeks ago I asked my friend Eden if she knew anyone who could make a necklace in the style of a friendship bracelet for this cross that I have.  She took it and seriously worked her patootie off to finish it before I left.  I still can't believe how beautiful it is and I havn't taken it off since.  She didn't even present it to me she had it on during lunch, it took me 20 minutes to notice it was around her neck.

This pic was before I noticed.

And when I saw the necklace I had to fight back the tears.  Eden did a tremendous job I still can't believe how beautiful it is.  Eden even told me she spent two hours straight finishing the necklace so that it was done by the time we met for Lunch

Before I even saw the necklace Cheri gave me an envelope with money she earned in tips bar tending the night before...What the heck I don't deserve this gift was way more then generous, very unexpected and completely appreciated.
